Transit timidity

This development in Arlington, Texas, is discouraging.  Obviously, elected officials and others responsible for overseeing transit don’t want to waste their time putting up a referendum that would surely fail.  But at a time when, more than ever, there is the need and the will to make meaningful investments in transit, it seems somewhat nonsensical to me to take a decision about transit out of voters hands.  That said, if the proposal in Arlington feels half-baked, you’d certainly prefer that all i’s are dotted and t’s crossed before voters see it.
